On September 19, 2019 Apple released iOS and iPadOS version 13. This version added a new function which allows iOS and iPadOS devices to view the desktop version of websites, rather than the mobile. As a result, the user agent that is used by many sites to determine the device, including Swank's, is identical to that of MacOS Safari. Currently, to view Swank's streaming sites, you must view the mobile version of the page in order to accommodate the Widvine CENC DRM.
The immediate solution to this issue is to change the settings in Safari to request the mobile version of the website. To change this setting, please proceed as follows:
- Go to the Settings > Safari > Request Desktop Website.
The Settings window displays Request Desktop Website. - Under the Request Desktop Website On section, click All Websites to turn off/grey out the toggle.
When the All Websites toggle is greyed out, refresh the browser and the Swank content should now be available.
Swank's Development Teams are actively working on solution to minimize the impact on users. We will continue to update this article as news develops.
