Custom Video Disc (CVD) Quick Reference Guide:
- A CVD is not a standard DVD, rather a custom disc produced by Swank Motion Pictures
- You will recognize them as white discs, with plain black text referencing an order number
- For content security purposes, CVDs distributed for early-window (pre-home DVD) content require a PIN for playback
- PINs are distributed via email or SMS text message
- All CVDs are watermarked to indicate the location of the licensee
- All CVDs contain protected data by multiple layers of security, including a feature to detect disc ripping software. For this reason, computer playback is not supported. Please use a standard DVD player
- Due to this content being distributed prior to home release, these discs are only available in standard definition video and stereo audio
Entering PINs:
If you have received a CVD with early window (pre-home DVD) content, it will require a PIN. Upon inserting the CVD, you will be presented with the following screen:
The PIN is distributed to the specified contact(s) via email and/or SMS messaging. If you cannot locate your PIN, please call 866-815-7719. To ensure our team can locate your PIN, please have the following information available:
- Customer Name
- Film Title
- Order Number (Found on disc)
- Shipment Number (Found on disc)
- Line Number (Found on disc)
To enter the four digit PIN, please use the arrow keys on your remote to move the cursor to highlight the desired number. Then press "OK" or "ENTER".
*Numeric keys on remotes are not always recognized, dependent on the DVD player. To ensure proper entry, please use the arrows to move the cursor.
A "dot" will appear in the entry field once the digit is accepted by the player. Once the digit is accepted, the cursor will move back to the "5" position. Please enter the PIN slowly (DVD players vary and in some cases it can take a few seconds for the device to accept the entry).
When the fourth digit is successfully entered, playback will begin immediately. You will often see a visual watermark identifying the Licensee at the beginning of the film.
*If you press "PLAY" after you enter the PIN, you will likely pause the movie. This can be interpreted as a misentry, when in fact the film is just paused on the leading black screen. You will often see a visual watermark identifying the licensee at the beginning of the film.
Troubleshooting PIN Failure:
If the PIN fails the first time, or you misenter one of the digits, please reset by pressing "STOP" twice, then "PLAY". This should reset the screen back to the cleared PIN entry screen.
Common signs of a misentered PIN is a black screen or the DVD menu being displayed after the PIN is entered. To reset the screen to a clear PIN entry screen, press "STOP" twice, then "PLAY".
If you need to verify your PIN, please call 866-815-7719 and have the following information on hand::
- Customer Name
- Film Title
- Order Number (Found on disc)
- Shipment Number (Found on disc)
- Line Number (Found on disc)
DVD Player Compatibility:
Please note: this is not a standard DVD and not all DVD and Blu-Ray players are compatible with these discs. We recommended using a standard DVD player (non-Blu-Ray) for playback. It is imperative to the success of your showing that you test each disc you receive one day prior to your showing, using the same equipment you plan to utilize for the event.
Computer Playback is NOT supported:
All CVDs contain protected data by multiple layers of security, including a feature to disable playback if disc ripping software is detected. For this reason, computer playback is not supported. Please use a standard DVD player for playback.
Closed Captions
Closed captions are not available for CVD. Only open captions are available upon request.
