What is TLS?
Transport Layer Security (TLS) is an encryption protocol that allows secure communications between two computers. The most common use of TLS is in HTTPS connections to web servers over the Internet. TLS is initiated by the client computer/browser which is why you must ensure that your HTTPS connections to Swank streaming services/endpoints are requesting TLS 1.2 connections.
Why is TLS 1.0/1.1 being deprecated?
Deprecation of TLS 1.0/1.1 is being enforced industry wide. TLS 1.0/1.1 is an outdated encryption protocol and is no longer considered the most secure option. To maintain secure HTTPS communications, we must switch to TLS 1.2.
Does this change impact my implementation?
You can use How's My SSL? to check which versions of TLS your browsers support. If your browsers support at least version 1.2 then no change is necessary. If your browsers don’t support at least version 1.2 then you will need to upgrade your browser or change to a browser that does support TLS 1.2.
What do I need to do?
If your HTTPS connections to Swank streaming services/endpoints are using TLS1.2 then you don’t need to do anything. If your HTTPS connections are not 1.2 or greater then you must upgrade your browsers to continue using Swank streaming services after February 28, 2022.
Who should I contact with questions?
