Summary
Below, you will find a detailed list of recommended troubleshooting steps designed to help resolve decryption errors encountered when using the Swank Decryption tool. These steps aim to guide you through identifying and fixing common issues that may prevent successful decryption, ensuring a smoother and more efficient process. Following these instructions carefully can help you pinpoint the root cause of the problem and apply the appropriate solution to restore functionality.
- Ensure you are using the correct version for your OS. You should find the following options in the SwankDecrypter.zip file:
- Windows
- Unbuntu x64
- Unbuntu x86
- CentOS 6
- CentOS 7
- If you are downloading from Aspera, the files should be placed onto an NTFS formatted USB disk. Also be sure that the USB drive is large enough to contain all of the movie data.
- Be sure to leave all files exactly as they are. Do not edit them, rename them or move the files to different locations. Note that the path to the content files should look similar to this:
- Drive Letter > Content > Order#> 1 > 1
- For example:
- F:\Content\1981600\1\1\
- For example:
- You can find an example of the Content Order File Structure here: Content Specifications
- Drive Letter > Content > Order#> 1 > 1
- Confirm drive is recognized by the machine being used for decryption. Attempt testing with a different USB cable and a different PC.
- Make sure only one Swank content drive is connected.
- Make sure the destination drive has enough space to receive the decrypted files.
- Confirm you have the appropriate permissions to write to the destination path.
- Confirm the destination path has been entered correctly. Dragging and dropping the folder into the command line is the most accurate method.
- If the destination folder resides on a network share, ensure there is a good connection and the transfer is not getting interrupted or try decrypting it locally first.
- Make sure you are using the most up to date version of the decryption tool. To request an updated version contact Swank Digital Support and Include the following
- Facility/vessel name
- What type of system (brand/vendor) you are loading the content
- Order number of the drive you are trying to decrypt
- If you're still experiencing issues after following the previous steps, the content files or content drive could be corrupt.
- If the files were downloaded from Aspera attempt to re-download to an alternate USB drive.
- If the files are not on Aspera, we may need to have your content resent.
