There is a known issue with Decklink SDI4K video cards using legacy (pre-v10.6.x) Blackmagic drivers and Drake SDI24A encoders. The symptoms of this issue include:
- HD video with embedded audio will not pass through the Drake encoder
- SD video with embedded audio will pass
- Encoder set to Analog audio, will pass HD video
To resolve this, we have identified there are two software updates required Windows patch and Blackmagic driver), and verification that the DMP software is up to date. Please find the following steps below to resolve this issue and allow HD distribution:
Step 1
- Download necessary software at the following links, or USB flash drive if provided:
Step 2
- Copy the downloaded files above to a portable USB drive and attach it to the affected DMP
Please, DO NOT load any newer drivers than what is currently provided. This could result in software and playback errors. - Install the Windows KB3033929 update (this is necessary otherwise you will receive a signature error during the Blackmagic driver installation, and the installation will fail)
- When prompted to restart the computer, click No
- We will restart the computer in Step 4
Step 3
- Install the BlackMagic Desktop Video 10.8.5 software Please, DO NOT load any newer drivers than what is currently provided. This could result in software and playback errors.
- Install any firmware updates if prompted
- When prompted to restart the computer, click No
- We will restart the computer in Step 4
We will restart following the Digital Media Player software upgrade.
Step 4
- Open the DMP software and verify you are running v8.2.6xxx.xxxxx or higher
- If you are running v.8.2.6xxx.xxxxx or higher, you can skip the DMP software installation and restart the server
- If you are running a previous version, install the latest Swank Digital Media Player update from the Setup.msi file provided on the USB, or from the links provided
- Restart the computer when prompted
Step 5
- Allow the computer at least five minutes to detect the new hardware and apply the updated driver software
- Launch the DMP software and click Video Settings
- Select the appropriate HD video output resolution
- Test the video and audio output
