Summary: Instructions below detail how to connect directly to a DMP and use RDP to provide attended access to Swank Support. After connecting to the DMP, you can use remote desktop software to let Swank Digital Support control and manage the DMP remotely.
-
Physical Connection
- Connect your laptop to one end of the ethernet cable, then connect the other end to an open ethernet port on the server. (There should be 2 ethernet ports. Make sure it's not the iDrac port)
-
Network Configuration:
- You can manually assign static IP addresses to both computers. Here's a general approach:
- Choose an IP address range: For example, 192.168.1.x.
- Assign unique IP addresses: (Details on this can be found in this video if needed: How to Configure Static IP Address in Windows 10)
- Laptop: 192.168.1.2
- Server: 192.168.1.3
- Set the subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 on both.
- Gateway: 192.168.1.1
