DMP 8 (Precision 3930 Rack Workstation) - Quick Start Installation

STEP 1: Rack

Install the player into your rack system.

Attach the inner rails (provided in the shipment) to both sides of the Digital Media Player.

The blue section of the rails will be on the outside of the Digital Media Player and toward the front.


Attach the outer rails to your rack system. *Please refer to the instructions included with your system.

Slide the Digital Media Player onto the rails.

STEP 2: KVM, Monitor, Keyboard, and Mouse

For PowerEdge models:

Use the onboard VGA output and USB for keyboard/mouse to interact with the DMP application. 

For Precision 3930 Rack Workstation models:

Plug the keyboard and mouse into the USB C to VGA/HDMI adapter that is included. Connect your computer monitor or KVM system to the VGA or HDMI port of the adapter. *This is for Control Display, *NOT* for Program Video Output. See Step 4: for Program Video Output. 

Plug the USB C adapter to the USB C port on the back of the DMP.

STEP 3: Power

Plug the power cord into the DMP and the other end into an electrical outlet. If your DMP has power redundancy, we recommend plugging them into separate power circuits.

STEP 4: Content Output

Connect the video and audio for Program Video Output (output to modulator, encoder, or broadcast system). If you have the SDI configuration, the audio and video are handled by a single cable. If you have an Intensity Pro configuration, see below for connection details.

Intensity Pro

The breakout cable attaches to the Intensity Pro card. The audio and video connections are as follows:

Composite Video: Green (#4 Y OUT)
Stereo Audio: White (#12 AUDIO OUT LEFT)
Stereo Audio: Red (#13 AUDIO OUT RIGHT)

*Component (RGB) video output is not supported. To use component, you must use HDMI and an appropriate HDMI to Component video converter.

STEP 5: Power On

Press the power button on the front
of the player. Double-click on the Swank Digital Media
Player icon on the desktop to open the software.

STEP 6: Adjust Date/Time

Adjust the date and time, if necessary.
1. Right click on the date and time in
the lower right hand corner of the
DMP’s Windows tool bar and select
Adjust Date and Time.

2. Click the Date and Time tab.
3. Click on the Change date and time button.
4. Close and re-open the software.

STEP 7: Adjust Time Zone

Adjust the time zone, if necessary. Cruise Line customers should leave the Time Zone set to “Central”.
1. Click on the appropriate date in the calendar. Click the up or down arrows to change the time or click on the numbers.
2. Click OK on the settings screen.
3. Click OK on the Date and Time screen.

Please refer to the User Guide to load and schedule content.

Note: The DMP does not automatically adjust to time zone changes. Manually adjusting the time
zone during use of the player may interfere with scheduled playback. Call Swank for assistance.
