This article is designed to assist with configuring your EZproxy product to allow off-campus viewing of Digital Campus products.
Link Settings
By adding the Proxy prefix to the Proxy Authentication settings in the IP Rules page, you are able to provide your users a single link without adding the proxy prefix to your links. When a user navigates to this link they will be redirected to your proxy and the link will reform with the prefix added.
EZ Proxy states that the Proxy URL should be formatted as follows:

- To create these links, you will select Proxy by Port on the IP Rules page
- Enter your proxy address in the Proxy URL Field (e.g.: https://ezproxy.mylib.edu/login?qurl=)
- Please remove the port information (if present) from the link URL (e.g.: ":2048").
- EZproxy states this style link will reform to either Port or Hostname based on your settings in EZproxy
- You must be running EZproxy 6.1.16+ supporting TLS 1.2 to properly utilize these link settings
Proxy Setup
EZProxy recommends configuring your proxy to utilize Proxy by Hostname. This offers greater flexibility, less redirects and URL reforming, and simplified URLs for distribution of Direct Watch Links. Please refer to the following link for OCLC's instruction on how to configure your proxy server to utilize Proxy by Hostname:
SSL Encryption
In May 2017, the Digital Campus platform moved from HTTP to HTTPS to accommodate Google’s new browser, which requires all DRM streams to be viewed over a secure SSL site (HTTPS). While Swank maintains the SSL certificate for digitalcampus.swankmp.net, EZ Proxy users are required to apply an SSL certificate in order to access Digital Campus without certificate warnings.

Common Proxy Issues:
Video Playback Errors
Issue: Video playback errors such as a 699 or 626 Error
Resolution: Ensure that only digitalcampus.swankmp.net is traveling over your proxy. The following NeverProxy lines can be added to the stanza:

NeverProxy dc.swankmp.net
NeverProxy fairplay.swankmp.net
NeverProxy cdn.swankidc.com
404 Error
Issue: 404 Error after proxy authentication
Resolution: Confirm your Proxy URL reads login?qurl= rather than login?url= . This will allow the proxy to handle encoded URLs. If this does not resolve the error, please confirm your proxy server settings are correct as per the instructions above.
Page is Flashing/Looping
Issue: IP whitelists may be incomplete without campus firewall addresses
Resolution: If you are unable to access your DC portal from on-campus, this is usually an indication that the IP range whitelist for that portal may be incomplete.
In the past we have observed a "looping" behavior where the browser was being sent back and forth between the portal and the customer's EZ Proxy.
The user's device had a valid on-campus address which was whitelisted properly. However, the whitelist was missing the school's campus firewall IP address. Please ensure your campus firewall IP address has been added.
Portal may appear blank or empty when viewed via EZ Proxy
Issue: The portal appears perfectly normal when viewed from an on-campus location that does not utilize EZ Proxy. However, the portal appears blank or empty when viewed from an off-campus location that does utilize EZ Proxy. You can tell if your connection to the portal is traveling over EZ Proxy by examining the appearance of the browser's address bar. Connections that utilize EZ Proxy usually look something like this -

- If you see this hyphenated form of address, your connection to the DC portal is almost certainly utilizing EZ Proxy.
- If the film catalog page appears blank, white or empty, you may be affected by this issue.
Resolution: Customers have reported that they have been able to resolve this issue by moving their Swank Digital Campus stanza to the top of their configuration list.
