If your student(s) attempt to access your Digital Campus portal and are presented with this message:
You do not have access to the page you requested
THEN the following conditions are true:
- The user signing in is getting assigned the "Basic" role
- The Direct Watch link is not properly formatted
-
A properly formatted direct watch link should resemble one of the following:
http://digitalcampus.swankmp.net/[YourSchool]/watch/99E8FF8B20A95C5D?referrer=direct
http://streaming.swankmp.net/[YourSchool]/watch/99E8FF8B20A95C5D?referrer=direct
-
If the link you are distributing to your K-12 students does not match the formatting shown above, the link is not considered properly formatted.
- NOTES: The link above is merely an example and will not work for accessing a film. The section YOUR-PORTAL-ID would be replaced with your Digital Campus portal ID. The section ABCDEFGH12345678 represents a unique code identifying a specific film from your catalog. This code is different for every film.
Instructors should not see this message. If an instructor is receiving this message, either they are signing in as a student or the Instructor Role may not be configured correctly. Please review the Instructor Role configuration in the administrator area of your portal.
K-12 students are assigned the Basic Role which is the most restrictive role available. Visitors to the portal who are assigned this role are not allowed to access any part of the portal other than an individual video stream for a specific title. In order to access that video stream, the student must use a properly formatted Direct Watch link. The expectation is that Instructors will sign into the portal and retrieve Direct Watch links for the films they wish to assign to their students. In order retrieve a properly formatted Direct Watch link, the instructor will need to do one of the following:
-
Share: Copy Link
- Access the site directly without going through your organizations proxy.
- Navigate to the desired title.
-
Click the Share: Copy Link button.
-
Content Manger
- Navigate to Content Manger
- Select the desired title(s), and then export to a spreadsheet which will contain the correct direct watch links.
Note: Copying the browser's address bar on a video playback page will not produce a properly formatted Direct Watch link.
