Issue: Errors returned when uploading custom/client content.
Resolution: The error most likely pertains to the H.264 profile that was used to encode the video. The solution is to ensure that either the Baseline or Main profile is used when encoding the file. Here are our recommendations for custom content:
- MP4 files
- Video Codec: H.264, H264, MP4
- Video Resolution: 1280 x 720
- Audio Codec: AAC
- Profile: Baseline or Main
- Maximum Video Bitrate: 3 Mbps
- Maximum Audio Bitrate: 1 Mbps
You may want to try re-encoding the video using the free application called Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr). Attached is a template that can be imported into Handbrake that should conform to the specifications above and allow for a successful upload. While we can’t guarantee that the following options within the software will resolve the issue, we advise the following settings:
- Use the Fast 720p30 preset choice
- Check the Web optimized button
- Click the Constant Framerate button
- Click the Average Bitrate button and type 3000 into the associated field
- In the “Audio” section make sure –
- AAC audio is selected
- The audio bit rate is set to 192 kbps
Try those settings and see if you get a better result. If that doesn’t work, try the same settings as above, but check the Fast Decode button as well. If it still doesn’t work after that, we would recommend you seek out a video encoding expert for assistance.
